Rodrigo Séllos is a director, editor, script writer and producer, based in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. Over the last 10 years Séllos worked on feature and short films, TV shows for broadcast channels in Brazil, music videos, webseries and institutional videos.
His first documentary feature "Here wackos are not swept under the rug" was screened at Rio Int’l Film Festival 2010 and the 25th Festival del Cinema Latino Americano Trieste, in Italy.
In 2020 he won the prize for BEST FILM at the 53rd Festival of Brasília with the documentary film "Searching for Macunaíma?", which will premiere in 2021 on Curta! Channel. The film also participates in the Competitive Exhibition of the Festival de Cine de La Habana (Cuba) in 2021. Also in 2020, he acted as one of the set directors of the series "Por um Respiro", shown on Globoplay.
His latest short documentary “You don't know me" (2018) was awarded Best Short Film in Rio Int’l Film Festival, and Jury's Special Mention in the 21st Málaga Film Festival. The film was also part of the official selection of the 37th Vancouver International Film Festival and Bogotá Short Film Festival. His previous fictional short "Remedial Class" was selected for the 6th FESTin - Portugal and Star Film Fest 2015 - Croatia, among others.
As editor, Rodrigo worked on five feature films, including "Street Kids United II - The Girls from Rio" - produced by Stephen Daldry and Mike Downey; "Memórias do Grupo Opinião” - opening movie for the 24th It's All True Film Festival, and the fiction “The Crazy and the Angelical” - released in brazilian theaters.
Séllos also directed and edited four music videos, and produced the documentaries exhibited at International Festival del Nuevo Cine Latino Americano (Cuba), China International New Media Short Film Festival and Festival de Cine de Lanzarote, in Spain.
In 2015, Séllos directed and shooted the documental webseries “Growing with Down Syndrome” exhibited at UN on International Down Syndrome Day, with over one million views on Movimento Down's Facebook.
